Business of Music Seminar Series - Jamaica

The launch of the Business of Music Seminar Series in Jamaica

Financed with support from the Caribbean Development Bank the seminars are aimed at equipping stakeholders within the music industry in Jamaica with the skills necessary to succeed in building viable music businesses and in operating in international markets; as well as understanding the challenges and constraints in the music Industry and what strategies are available to help them overcome such issues.

The Business of Music seminar series involves a total of four seminars including one on Women in Music; one on the Fundamentals of the Business of Music; One on Managing Negotiations and Contracts in Music; and one on Accessing International Markets. The program is a graduated one and participants are expected to learn how to develop basic business and export plans; how to identify potential market opportunities; and how to handle contracts, business negotiations and other legal matters related to performance and revenue streams, and Will provide an opportunity for participation in the World Music Expo (WOMEX). Selection for this will be based on the quality of the best business and export plans submitted by participants from the seminar series.
