Dani G (born 03 December 1986, Barbados) is the new stage name for singer, songwriter and performer Danielle Gibson based in Barbados.
A solo artiste, noted for not only her sweet vocals and versatility to perform various genres of music but her persistence to push her music. From singing at small private functions, school and military events to the big stages of The National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA), Crop Over’s 10-10, Holetown Festival, Old Years and Christmas nights at some of the Island’s top Hotels, this young singer was beginning to build a name on her own. A Manager in Retail at the Airport and coordinating her re-launch into the local music industry as an artiste, Dani G sees herself as a work in progress; doing everything she can to market herself. In 2007, she auditioned for a young band called Kartizan for which she became a female lead vocalist. With many nights of practice and rehearsal sessions, they started to build a name for themselves, performing at community events, bars and small night clubs. The band formed by past member Nicholas Gill led way to a new management team and in 2007 Kartizan Band developed a repertoire for themselves. From Crop Over Cavalcades, to hotels, to Reggae Lounge and Ship Inn to private functions they performed not just covers but their own material.
In Crop Over of 2008, Danielle released her first recorded song ‘We Need Love’ featuring fellow local artist Peach as well as the groovy-soca hit ‘Eyes On You,’ both self-penned song.
Dani G left the band to further her studies and in 2009 released a groovy, fun track called ‘Ice Cream’ written by “Shaft” from Trinidad and produced by Madmen Productions. Music kept flowing and she broke into the reggae genre writing a track called ‘Miss Your Loving’ on the Callerz Riddim produced by Quantum Productions.
Juggling studies, work and music wasn’t easy but with her passion and dedication, Danielle continued to write music and record music. She wrote ‘Back Back Way’ on the Chrysulous Riddim. A groovy soca and dancehall track which showed her versatility. The song received a lot of airplay and Dani G promoted her song and artiste movement. The song reached as far as Germany with Djs using the track in mixes on youtube.com.
…2013 is here and as the saying goes, “you just have to be in the right place at the right time”. Currently, Dani G is teaming up with Barbadian producer, Mr. Romel Productions & renowned Trinidadian cultural artiste Foreigner Frank at Platta Studios, and has released two songs entitled ‘It Calling’ and ‘On De Road,’ with another track on the way called ‘Temperature’ produced in Starway Studios. She presently vocal trains with musician/artiste Marisa Lindsay of Sayluv Music. A fresh sound, pictures, gig updates and a new video series called Dani G: The Real Me; a behind the scenes look at her journey as a passionate artiste and working towards making that passion for music a full-time career.
