An award winning Hip Hop artist from Barbados, ViZion has a distinctive style and trademark flow. His captivating delivery and excellent songwriting skills have been widely acclaimed, making him one of the Caribbean’s most exciting upcoming urban artists.

Growing up in the parish of Christ Church, Barbados, Oliver Gale a.k.a. ViZion, grew up surrounded by sun, sea, surf and the sounds of Caribbean music. At the age of 13 ViZion’s love for music grew as he was inspired by the sounds of dancehall and reggae, belonging to such artists as Sizzla, Bounty Killer and Bob and Damian Marley. Immediately, he began writing and singing. A few years later, after moving to Canada to study at boarding school, ViZion also started listening to hip-hop and other urban music. He studied the styles of artists like Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z and Nas and began developing his own style of hip-hop.

Following the release of his first studio single and regional radio hit ‘Girl I Need You’, ViZion began performing at major festivals in Barbados, including ‘Reggae on the Hill’, ‘Reggae on the Beach’ and the ‘Bob Marley Tribute’ concert held at the world famous Kensington Oval Stadium. These shows had audiences of up to 15,000 people and were headlined by some of the biggest stars in Reggae and Dancehall. At the same time, while studying at university in England, ViZion was performing across the country opening shows for established UK hip-hop artists, notably international superstar Tinchy Stryder.

In 2008, ViZion’s progress and emergence onto the scene was recognized when he was nominated at the Barbados Music Awards (BMA’s) in two categories: ‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Reggae Artist of the Year’.

In 2011, after a year of intense artist development, ViZion founded his street brand and Indie label ‘Authentic Revolution (AR)’ and began work on his first studio album ‘Dream or Die’. His 1st radio single ‘Hustle Hard’, received heavy airplay in Barbados and throughout the Caribbean. As the year progressed, he followed up with two more singles and two music videos. By the end of 2011 ViZion was receiving steady rotation on every mainstream radio station in Barbados and some across the Caribbean, UK and USA.

2011 also saw the artist recording in Trinidad and Tobago on PengCo Music’s highly successful ‘Kush Riddim’. A few months later, he was flown to Nashville, Tennessee to record at the Platinum Award-winning ‘Sound Kitchen Studios’ with Grammy Award winning producer Alex Orozco.

2012 began with a trip to Atlanta, Georgia where ViZion performed at a number of showcases and exhibitions, in the process winning an award for his energetic performance at ABEX (Atlanta Business Entertainment Exchange). In April the music video for ‘The Beach House’, the 3rd single off his debut album ‘Dream or Die’, went to #1 on Tempo TV’s Top 10 Cross Caribbean Countdown, staying there for the maximum period of two months. The same single and music video then went on to reach the #1 spot on www.indiecharts.com, climbing 500+ positions in one week with thousands of votes.

ViZion also made a return to Barbados’ biggest stage, performing once again at ‘Reggae on the Hill’ and ‘Bajan Reggae Night’ in front of huge crowds.

In November the artist moved to New York City to release his first mixtape #SolAR and in so doing gain exposure in the US market. With a number of showcase performances already under his belt in the city and a growing network of industry professionals, ViZion is making a distinct mark on the city already.

His achievements were once again acknowledged in Barbados when he was nominated for a second time at the prestigious Barbados Music Awards (BMA’s). This time the nomination was for his rapping ability and in recognition of his growing international appeal. ViZion went on to win the award for ‘Hip Hop Artist of the Year’ in January 2013.

With new mixtapes in the pipeline, starting with the sister mixtape to #SolAR, titled #Eclipse, set to be released in the US in April, stay tuned for new music, videos, shows and urban street wear from Authentic Revolution (AR) in 2013.

‘ViZion is one of the hottest rising stars out of Barbados and the Caribbean. From his catalogue of previous singles, current mix-tape that's getting buzz in the streets to his Hip Hop/Reggae Barbadian style, ViZion is a fresh unique voice and also adds a new spin on the quality of talent coming out of Barbados for 2013.’ ~ Jeanille Bonterre, Tempo TV Networks

‘One of the most exciting young prospects to come out of Barbados since Rihanna.’ ~ Mikey Hulsmeier, Producer/CEO, De Red Boyz
